It’s interesting how connected Jason and Wanru are to us without us knowing about it initially. Wanru knows my best friend through a common friend of theirs, while Jason used to play football with Alvin for a number of years! The connection goes even deeper when we found out that, in fact, Jason was JC schoolmates with us and he was only 1 class away from us (yes, Alvin and I were JC classmates :D)! And for more connection, Alvin realized that he and Wanru were secondary school mates too, and two of Wanru’s ‘sisters’ were his classmates! It was somewhat of a reunion for him. And so, because of all these connections, there were quite a number of familiar faces at their wedding which felt quite ‘homely’ for us.
One other interesting point about the couple that got us all excited was that Wanru wanted to do a First Look! We had done a previous First Look for Tom and Sui-Lee last year, but this was our first request from a Singaporean couple (for a tradition more commonly seen in Western weddings), so it was really rare but it’s something that we really enjoy doing and hope that more couples will choose to do it too. This is where very natural, happy and loving emotions will show and it’s something that we love to capture for our couples.
What really touched me about Jason’s love for Wanru was his declaration (during one of the gatecrashing games) that he will work hard so that Wanru will not have to work in 5 years’ time. It may sound very simple (and perhaps realistically unachievable), but to me, just the thought of a guy wanting to strive hard to provide all he can for his wife is really touching.
